We’ve been working with Marie Curie to get the nation talking about those who are being missed over the Christmas period

The year was seen off on a meaningful note in Hope&Glory.

As part of our campaign with the charity, we’ve been helping Marie Curie to create a greater degree of understanding of the work that they do – and the impact it can have on those who experience the care delivered by the thousands of nurses that care for those living with terminal illness (and their families).

To help show the legacy of positive memories that Marie Curie’s work can help to leave behind, we created the Marie Curie Memory Tree.

Christmas can be a tough time for those who have lost loved ones. So we created a tree on which the lights glowed brighter when people shared fond memories of those they would miss over the festive season.

The tree generated a resoundingly positive response from the media with the Daily Telegraph, Daily Mirror, Time Out (more than once), ITV London, This Morning and a host of others talking about its launch. Then we worked with supporter, Peter Andre, to pay a visit to the tree and ensured that his story was told – as he talked about the memories of his brother while paying it a visit. That resulted in yet more coverage from the likes of Daily Mail, Closer, Hello, OK! picking up on the story.

We also managed to get a host of people talking about the campaign on social media – with a message from Stephen Fry something of a highlight.

The whole thing saw over 2,000 tweets as the lights on the tree shone bright through the month to bring our year to a close.
