We’ve been announcing IKEA’s move to the UK’s more urban high streets this week … and we’ve been all over the media as a result

Well 2020 has certainly started fast.

Following our Australia and The Royal Mint campaigns at the back-end of 2019, we hit the New Year with the announcement that IKEA has acquired The Kings Mall in Hammersmith.

Yep. Plans are afoot to create a new city centre IKEA store with over 2,000 products in stock.

And meatballs available to all – which is what oh-so-many of you will be most excited about I am quite sure.

What’s more, IKEA will be working on a revamp of the building with a refresh given to the whole thing, which will be a mixed-use space with a host of other retailers on offer in the single space.

Needless to say, the media team smashed the phones and it’d be fair to say that we cleaned-up with the news.

There were pieces across the national print media with Daily Mail, The Guardian, the i Paper, City A.M., Daily Telegraph and The Times. The onlines too got on board with crackers all over The Guardian, Daily Telegraph (and again), The Sun, Daily Mirror, This Is Money (not twice but three times), Daily Mail (twice), Evening Standard, The Financial Times, METRO and The Times.

With a host of broadcast and regional media to go alongside, it was a pretty cracking day for team IKEA.
