We created Fenders Unplugged with Greggs … because every artist deserves the best warm-up act

We’ve been collaborating with the brilliant team at Greggs.

Opening the ultimate dive bar experience in celebration of Geordie icon and Sausage, Bean & Cheese Melt fan Sam Fender ahead of his iconic homecoming gigs at St James’ Park in Newcastle next weekend.

It’s no secret that Sam is a huge Greggs fan, and in 2022, Greggs filled Sam’s Brits “After Party Bus” with savoury delights to help celebrate his successes, and a few months later, he was even seen sporting the Greggs X Primark clogs during his tour to the US.

So, following the installation of a new logo at its Grainger Street shop in Newcastle, which set fan pages and social media alight, we teased, announced and launched Fenders Unplugged. Over two days, the store became an immersive dive bar experience. Giving fans the ultimate pre-gig experience in true Geordie style ahead of Sam’s sold-out shows by celebrating homegrown, northeast talent with a series of intimate performances, even selected by Sam himself.

With complimentary classic Greggs combos served-up and washed down with Sam’s favourite drink, Newcastle Brown Ale, local talent took to the stage as the sold-out experience offered the most incredible warm-up ahead of the big gig.

Bagging hundreds of pieces of editorial, driving endless conversation on social and giving fans of the North East’s two most iconic sons precisely what they wanted in a way that only Greggs can.
