If you’ve been browsing the Airbnb website in the last few days you might have noticed something out of the ordinary – the whole country of Sweden has been listed on the site. This is not a mistake, rather a new, first-of-its-kind partnership with Visit Sweden.
The partnership promotes the Swedish principle of Allemansrätten – which roughly translates as ‘freedom to roam’, for those not fluent in Swedish! This gives people the right to freely explore all public spaces across the country and pitch up a tent in any of Sweden’s beautiful countryside, from deep forests to peaceful meadows.
We created a dedicated page on the site to highlight some of the best locations – Rustic Forest Retreat. Bed Type: Natural. Room Type: Open Plan – and a tongue in cheek video inviting adventurers to visit.
With a deeply ingrained love of IKEA, Abba and all things Swedish, media in the UK loved the story and it was featured everywhere from METRO, Daily Telegraph, Business Insider to Refinery29, Grazia, CNTraveller, Lonely Planet, Marie Claire and Country Living.
