It’s been a perfect harmony this week as the hmv team announced the retailer would make a return to its iconic home at 363 Oxford Street …

The team has been working with hmv to help them announce a return to the iconic 363 Oxford Street address that was their HQ and flagship for oh-so-many years.

In fact it was the very first hmv store in 1921 and over the decades became renowned as a community hub for music fans and one of the country’s most famous retail destinations.

We’ve been marking “The Return of the King” (as Time Out put it) nailing a number one hit with the biggest retail announcement of the year as we detailed the business’s turnaround under the stewardship of owner Doug Putman, as well as sharing a look at the store’s brand-new logo and offering.

The response across media, social media, and broadcast was immense.

There were interviews with hmv’s owner gracing The Times, The Telegraph (twice), The Sun, Ian King Live and the BBC Radio 4’s World at One.

The news was picked up more than 50 times by national outlets, with The Guardian, CityAM, The Evening Standard (three times no less), The Daily Mirror (twice), and Daily Mail all celebrating our return to Oxford Street and history of spectacular in-store signings and performances.

With over 350 pieces of coverage overall, we can safely say we made hmv’s impending return to 363 Oxford Street a comeback to remember (and at the same time an opening to look forward to).
