We’ve been having heaps of festive fun launching Greggs’ first foray into fine dining with the launch of “Bistro Greggs” in Fenwicks Newcastle

In what promises to be the biggest restaurant opening this Christmas, the team have been working around the clock to support Britain’s favourite bakery to create the ultimate culinary culture clash.

Opening to the public on 1 December 2023, within seconds of announcing the launch earlier this week, there has been a veritable outpouring of excitement, with thousands scrambling to book a table and experience Bistro Greggs’ a-la-carte multi-course menu of enhanced interpretations of their iconic bakes and sweet treats.

Designed as an all-day fine dining destination in the heart of Newcastle (open 9am-8pm), the French-inspired menu created in collaboration with Fenwick’s acclaimed Executive Chef, Mark Reid, features a range of highlights including the Greggs Festive Bake served alongside duck-fat roasties, smoked pancetta, chestnuts and sprouts and Greggs Benedict. A take on the Greggs Sausage, Bean and Cheese Melt reimagined with smoked ham, poached Cackle Bean Eggs and a velvety Hollandaise sauce.

What’s more, the dessert menu includes the Greggs Yum Yum with caramel sauce and macadamia brittle and “Tea and Cake” featuring Greggs Christmas Cake Slice paired with an Earl Grey Crème Brûlée.

With diners accessing through a lattice-style pergola front entrance in a playful nod to the Greggs’ signature pastry design, the Parisian-inspired space even includes dishes served under silver cloches by servers in Bistro Greggs aprons and traditional white shirts and ties.

And needless to say, the media have been eating this one up.

Coverage landing across well over 100 titles within minutes of announcing, including a clean sweep of the nationals and stand-out news and feature pieces across print and online in the likes of The Guardian, The Times, The Sun, The Independent, Metro and Mail Online. Not to mention racking up nearly every UK regional, online and consumer publication.

And as social media goes into meltdown, food, features, and broadcast requests are all coming in thick and fast to be some of the first to enjoy the Bistro Greggs’ fare come opening time.

Tables are going like (Greggs) hotcakes, but if you fancy chancing your arm and want to book, head over to https://www.fenwick.co.uk/stores/newcastle.
