In a week when everyone is talking about the Royal Wedding, we’ve been working with Keep Britain Tidy to reveal the country’s best beaches

A raft of Blue Flag and Seaside Awards 2018 have been awarded to beaches around the country which meet the very highest standards for cleanliness and facilities.

So, we packaged the announcement up with a bit of research which revealed that one in four of children have never been swimming in the sea in this country and nearly one in five have never even set foot on a British beach. Unclean seawater, litter and dog mess were among the top reasons cited by parents for not taking their children to the beach.

Media lapped it up, with the story covered in national print no fewer than five times; The Daily Star, The Times, The Daily Express, The i and Daily Mail. Online media soon followed, with Daily Telegraph covering it (twice) alongside, The Sun, The i, Daily Mail (twice), Daily Express, Metro, Independent, Huffington Post and a whole host of regional print and online hits.

Not forgetting broadcast, Sky News, BBC GNS and BBC 5Live also got in on the action and chatted to Allison Ogden-Newton, CEO of Keep Britain Tidy about the announcement.

All that and it’s just day one …
