From coins to medical visors: this week the team has been busy helping to spread the word about how The Royal Mint is working to support the NHS

The news has been a little gloomy of late, so when stories like this come along, it’s always nice to help spread a bit of positivity.

The Royal Mint came to us with the story that some of the engineers at its manufacturing site in Llantrisant, South Wales, were keen to support NHS workers, and began searching for medical equipment that could easily be produced using existing equipment on site.

The team found a rudimentary design for a medical visor online, and began developing high specification prototypes. Incredibly, they turned the concept into an approved design in just 48 hours, with the first batch of visors sent straight to local hospital, The Royal Glamorgan, with more to follow for other NHS hospitals.

We got straight to work sharing the heart-warming story with media, securing a stellar piece on PA within minutes of selling-in.

First came the nationals with print and online pieces in the likes of the Daily Telegraph, Evening Standard, The Guardian, Daily Mail and City A.M.

Then came the regional pick up with over a hundred titles covering the story, followed by some fantastic broadcast pieces on the likes of The One Show, BBC Radio 4 and ITV Wales.

The team effort secured an incredible 235 pieces of coverage, and with production now moving to a 24/7 operation following the initial success of the visors, we’re proud to have played a small part in getting the word out there.
