Over at Dacia, we’re all about championing everyday adventure. So when we spotted that Neil Rutter was the five-time Bog Snorkelling champion and world record holder over at the rather amazing British event, the World Bog Snorkelling Championships, it felt right to dive in and sponsor the expert in the field.
Put simply, we made Neil the first ever professional athlete in the sport of Bog Snorkelling as well as inducting him with a coveted position in Dacia’s Adventure Community.
Neil (of course) won again with an impressive time of 1:18:13, taking the trophy for the competition for an impressive sixth time. Now in its 39th year, the World Bog Snorkelling Championship involves competitors swimming two lengths of a 60-yard trench cut through a peat bog in the shortest time possible, equipped with a snorkel and flippers. Yes, that is correct.
Amongst the crowds, snorkels and outfits was our team, on the ground, capturing our professional champion in action, and the coverage has been outstanding. BBC (including X and BBC Wales Instagram), Daily Star, Daily Star (print), The Sun (print), Western Mail (print) and Daily Post (print) to name but a few, plus a raft of other regional hits and more.
It’s sure been a wild bog ride and rather a lot of fun was had along the way. (Swimming) hats off to Neil.
