Bu Da Bup Bup! We’ve been having “a wonderful Christmas grime” launching IKEA’s first-ever festive advert to widespread media acclaim

Last week we finally got the chance to reveal IKEA’s first-ever Christmas ad to the nation, working with Mother and a grime legend to help Brits defy ‘home shame’ and silence the critics.

Featuring as a family anxiously awaiting the impending arrival of guests, an array of kitsch ornaments are brought to life via the vocal stylings of D Double E – taunting them about the state of their house courtesy of a kitty-teapot, salt and pepper shakers and toy-plastic T-Rex (obviously).

With anticipation high, we sold the story under embargo to the great and good of the media world – giving the Christmas ad writers a heads up ahead of it dropping – as well as working closely with the team at IKEA and Mother to field questions and provide comment.

There were spreads across multiple nationals including the likes of Daily MailThe Guardian (online and print) Evening StandardThe SunDaily MirrorEvening StandardMetro.

We also landed feature pieces in the likes of the NMEHouse BeautifulIdeal HomeMarketing WeekThe DrumMore About AdvertisingCreative BloqLittle Black BookCampaign LivePR Week and Retail Week.

It was all topped off by a feature of the track on BBC Radio 1’s breakfast show in which Greg James proclaimed IKEA winners of the Christmas Ad battle for 2019.
