A spot of Jubilee news generation was a total piece of cake for the Buzz Bingo team as they grabbed a slice of the media action …

Sometimes a bit of old-school cake making and a well-timed picture is just what it takes to make the news.

So it was that we had our own slice of the Jubilee action this week, kicking off celebrations with Buzz Bingo.

We commissioned the incredibly talented social media baking star Lara Mason of Cake Anything to create a life-sized sculpture of The Queen made entirely out of cake.

After five days, 400 eggs, 20kg of flour and 20kg of butter, Lara unveiled the incredible hyper-realistic cake at Buzz Bingo Kingsbury Road, Birmingham where it was served to customers.

The cake, (Victoria Sponge, of course) depicted the 96-year-old monarch wearing a blue sash, symbolising her role as a member of the Royal Victorian Order and silver jewels. Across the other 91 clubs in the UK, all other customers would be welcomed with free cake and a cuppa to mark the occasion.

Social media content showing the creation of the masterpiece went live on Lara’s TikTok, Instagram and Facebook with the TikTok video accumulating over 1.2 million views within just 24 hours.

It’s gone down a royal treat with media as well, with the team securing 177 pieces of coverage including 12 national pieces as well as regional and lifestyle coverage. Pieces include Sky News, Daily Mail, The Independent, Evening Standard, The Sun and a DPS in the the iPaper.
