For the 11,000 residents of Mae Suek, Thailand, the “Theatre of Dreams” has only ever existed on television screens.
Despite over 85% of the community being avid Manchester United fans, their own field of dreams was anything but; extreme weather and a mountainous terrain meant fields were frequently unusable, leaving a football obsessed community without a safe place to play.
Enter the ‘Delivering Dreams’ campaign, bringing a professional grade, all weather football pitch to one of the world’s most geographically isolated communities in Thailand, providing year-round access for over 1,000 children across 11 villages.
Our role? To make this incredibly powerful story land far and wide around the world.
The team went about hosting and landing interviews with Harry Maguire, Diogo Dalot and Matheus Cunha (a particular highlight for the United fans in the office), collaborated on a host of incredibly heartwarming content, including a surprise video message from club captain Bruno Fernandes and managed a global media partnerships plan.
The story has gone on to dominate sport, news and lifestyle feeds including the BBC, Mail Online, 433, Manchester Evening News, GOAL, Daily Express, Yahoo and over 900 global articles. Our post with global publisher 433 alone generated over 220,000 engagements, with United captain Bruno Fernandes even liking the post!
We’re incredibly proud of the coverage, but even prouder to support a project that will offer a lasting legacy: a world-class home for the beautiful game in Mae Suek.
