Team Uber launched Uber Boat on the River Cam this week, giving the public the chance to book a punting experience through the Uber app.
Mixing traditional 19th Century punts with modern technology, tourists and locals alike can enjoy a guided tour of the river in the blistering Bank Holiday sunshine.
The 40-minute boat rides – a bargain at £10 per go – are bookable within a one mile radius of the departure dock, which includes Cambridge City Centre, St John’s College and Fitzwilliam Museum.
Uber teamed up with a local punting company to make sure the tour was completely authentic, and all money raised from the activity goes to charity.
The temporary addition of boats to the app serves to showcase the range of transport options now available on the app, from cars to Pool to JUMP e-bikes to public buses and trains… and of course the chance to have a bit of fun in the summer sun.
