“We Will Meet Again” – a socially distanced postcard from our friends down-under and Tourism Australia

Last December there were 118,500 visitors to Australia from the UK. Obviously, this year is different.

To send a message of hope to the friends and relatives that we are missing this year, Tourism Australia worked with the enigmatic sand artist known as Edward ‘the Banksy of Barrow Head’. Together we created a 90 metre long Christmas Card in the sand of an Australian beach.

The heartfelt message “We Will Meet Again” struck a chord. As soon as Ladbible and Sky News covered the art there was a huge response with displays of mutual affection between the nations popping up in the sand in both hemispheres.

Tourism Australia Managing Director Phillipa Harrison said, ‘like the message in the sand, our separation is only temporary”. We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.
