We just got to support the opening of the UK’s first ever Pokémon Center, right here in London … and the queues have been around the block …

It’s not every week you get to live out your favourite game, but that’s exactly what team Pokémon did when they opened the UK’s first-ever Pokémon Center here in London, with fans travelling from across Europe (and, indeed, from across the world) for the chance to visit the pop-up shop.

Open for a limited time only, Pokémon fans young and old flocked to the store for the chance to purchase London-inspired mechandise (such as the London City Pikachu plushie – exclusively sold in the London store).

To celebrate the opening, we hosted fans, media and influencers at a preview, before giving them the chance to shop exclusive merch before anyone else. As you’d expect, that went down like a storm!

We hosted over 150 guests, with titles from the Daily Telegraph to METRO to Joe to GQ. We were also joined by influencers including as Arrekz, Ali A, DanTDM and other gaming royalty.

On its opening morning, queues for the pop-up stretched over a mile long, snaking through Westfield London Shopping Centre and out the doors while  #PokemonCenterLondon trended on Twitter and media went nuts for the excitement (and, we’ll admit it, so did we).

Since its announcement in August, team Pokémon has landed over 180 pieces of coverage in the UK alone – with key highlights in the likes of Daily Mail, Daily Star, Daily Mirror, METRO and just about every gaming and fan site available.
