Pinterest proves a new sourcing ground for Target’s capsule collection designers

Target is testing the waters with some new design partners.

The US retailer is partnering with three top pinners- Joy Cho, Jan Halvarson, and Kate Arends, all of whom write blogs and work in design in various capacities – on a series of limited-edition collections featuring “party products” that will be sold in stores and online.

It’s the latest in a long line of design tie-ups – but this is one that has its media “baked in” by partnering a retailer with a designer who brings with them professional skills for sure, but also a massive and reasonably engaged social media base.

Maybe all creative and designer types will need to make sure that they bring their own audience with them in the future. Being a brilliant creative isn’t enough, you’ll need to be a media channel too …
