We’ve been having fun with O2 and Oculus Rift this week … the results (so far) are in

The O2 Sports team has been having all manner of fun with the England Rugby team and Oculus Rift. As you do.

The brief back-story is that O2, the RFU, England team and Oculus Rift have been working together to create the world’s most immersive rugby experience – creating a way of taking people inside the England training camp.

Using the Oculus Rift headset, fans will be immersed in a “multi-sensory take-over and feel as though they are part of the Senior England Rugby Team”. The experience is designed to place the viewer within a training session on the pitch, participating in genuine drills directed by England Attacking Skills Coach Mike Catt, and featuring team talks from Captain Chris Robshaw.

We announced the story this week with a cheeky little teaser video.

So far, it’s been covered across the Daily Telegraph, Daily Mirror, the consumer tech titles (including Pocket-Lint, Yahoo!EuroGamer, DigitalSpy, SlashGear,  T3, Engadget) and the marketing trades (BR, Marketing, Marketing Week).

What’s more, there’s a whole heap more to come as we plan to get journalists through the experience and have plans to keep the story rolling through the winter season.
