Strictly strategy strikes again! For the fourth year we’ve been working with former Strictly head judge Len Goodman to encourage the nation to “pass on something wonderful” with Remember A Charity
Last week saw the return of Remember A Charity Week, an annual campaign dedicated to raising awareness of passing on something wonderful to the next generation by including a gift to charity in your Will. Legacy income is vital for the charity sector. Without it, all would struggle. Many simply wouldn’t exist.
And, as with previous years, we had the lovely Len Goodman as our ambassador. With Remember A Charity Week taking place just before the new season of Strictly, Len is the perfect topical spokesperson, which the media, and the over 200 participating charities, love. Indeed, the response this year has been, as Craig Revel Horwood would say, FAB-EW-LOUS!
In total, we secured a whopping 361 pieces of coverage, all carrying our key messaging. This was a 30% rise from last year, which up until 2021, was the most successful week ever.
In national print and online we landed stonking pieces in the Sunday Times, Daily Telegraph, Daily Express (four times!), The Sun, The Daily Star and The Mirror.
We had a PA and Reach PLC regional bomb, driving nearly 200 message rich articles.
And then through the power of Len and some brilliant publicity skills, we managed to secure a whopping 150 plus radio and TV hits, including Good Morning Britain, the entire BBC local radio network (140 plus hits across 39 stations), TalkRadio and TalkTV, BBC London News and ITV London News. Quite remarkable.
And more is still rolling in.
Hats off to Len and the team, who did an incredible job.
Ultimately, though, this campaign is about making a difference and every year we’re proud to have played a part in help normalising legacy giving in wills and securing the long term future of so many incredibly important charities and causes.
