Small Business Saturday is the biggest day of the year for Team Amex and this year was no exception as the team boshed in some exceptional coverage…
As the original founder of the Small Business Saturday initiative and ongoing principal supporter, American Express works hard to encourage consumers to support their local small businesses through their ‘Shop Small’ campaign.
Following on from our story on the changing face of the high street earlier on in the month, the team ran a shipshape press office to spread the word about the importance of Small Business Saturday.
Not only did this include stellar pieces in the The Sun, Daily Mirror, Mail Online, The Independent and a host of regional press including a Brighton belter, the team secured not one, but two prime time Sky interviews. Deryane Tadd, owner of St Albans small business The Dressing Room appeared on Sky Sunrise explaining why it’s shopping small can make such a big difference, while Small Business Saturday campaign director Michelle Ovens spread the word on Sky News at lunchtime.
All this meant that, despite adverse weather conditions, Brits went out and shopped in small businesses to the tune of £812 million!
