We attended City, University of Londonโs Department of Media, Culture & Creative Industries first ever โmeet and greetโ to inspire the potential PR candidates of the future.
City, University of London connected second and third year students with professionals from marketing, market research, advertising, PR, publishing, and cultural industries through small roundtable discussions. The professionals (among which we were included) offered insights into their career paths, daily responsibilities, and the skills students should develop to enter the workplace and pursue a potential career in public relations.
We gave our key responsibilities (no mean feat) and attempted to answer the age old question: “What does a typical day look like in the world of PR?โ. All with the aim of offering a realistic view of what to expect should they wish to pursue a career in the field.
The initiative comes as we continue to explore different avenues to uncover talented individuals who may not have considered a career in PR or who are keen to understand how to enter the field. Students heard firsthand from our team members who have defied traditional career paths and carved their own way – showing that talent knows no boundaries and can be found in all walks of life.
We were infinitely humbled by our professional peers and the students who were inquisitive, ever curious and engaged. We extend our sincerest thanks to our colleagues at City, University of London for this opportunity. Whilst we were there to impart our knowledge, we walked away feeling wholly inspired by the thinkers of the future.ย
